Birth Studio

Grace Midwifery Collective Birth Studio in Slidell

Our beautiful birth studio is located in a charming old house in the heart of downtown Slidell and offers a variety of options for the birth of your dreams. With cozy vibes, minimal decor, soft lighting, and comforting colors and textiles, you’ll feel right at home.

Birthing in our studio has been described as having a home birth, but in the midwives’ home. You can relax and know that we have every little thing taken care of.

We are located 5 minutes away from the nearest hospital in the rare event it’s needed. And last but not least, insurance companies are likely to cover more with a birth center birth.

We welcome you to come take a tour, meet the midwives, and see what makes us the most special birth option in Louisiana.

Learn more about starting care at the Birth Studio

  • 1. Schedule a Tour and meet the midwives

We believe that finding the right provider is a crucial piece to achieving your birth preferences. During this consultation and tour a Collective Midwife will cover what our care looks like, cost, philosophy, availability, and eligibility.

  • 2. Confirm eligibility

For folks birthing in Louisiana, state law requires a risk assessment to be completed by a physician prior to initiation of care. We recommend scheduling a visit with you OBGYN to assess for “low risk” status.

We will then request records to review the risk assessment.

  • 3. Allow us to walk this journey with you

The midwifery model of care is individualized, intimate, and oriented around informed choice. Your initil onboarding visit includes time with out office administrator Ashley to review paperwork, scheduling, and payments followed by your first prenatal. Visits occur every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly until delivery. We offer all of the same lab tests and orders as standard obstetrics with the perks of hour long visits at our beautiful studio location.

During labor, we prepare the birth studio for your arrival and care for you all the way through the immediate postpartum. While our goal is always a natural physiologic birth, we are prepared for any complication or emergency.

In the postpartum, midwives visit our home at 24 hours and 1 week and our IBCLC visits at 36 hours. Our final postpartum office visits are always bittersweeet but we love to see our families blossom.
